District Shows Improvement in A-F Letter Grades, AIMS Results

Eight of the 14 Phoenix Union schools measured, recorded an A or B in this year’s Arizona Department of Education Letter Grade accountability rankings, released August 4.

 

Bioscience and Franklin Police and Fire High Schools repeated as A Schools. Two schools, Carl Hayden and Bostrom, moved from a C to a B, and no school scored less than a C.  Franklin recorded its 4th consecutive A ranking, and Bioscience, its second A in a row.  Metro Tech missed an A by one point.  Cesar Chavez, Betty Fairfax,  and Maryvale also repeated as B schools.  Overall, the District recorded a C.  Nine schools improved in total points. 

 

2014 AIMS scores were also released.   For 10th Grade AIMS, Phoenix Union was eight points up in Writing (66), had a three-point improvement in Reading (79), and one-point increase in Math (50).  The State average had a four-point increase in Writing (74), a five-point gain in Reading (85), and two-point gain in Math (63).
