South Mountain Finishes Fourth in Academic Decathlon

South Mountain placed fourth inthe 27-school Regional Academic Decathlon and qualified for the State Decathlonfor the 23rd time in 24 years. Markaya Hill won the GoldMedal in the Honors division for Speech and was also awarded the trophy for thetop prepared Speech.    Eugenia Anane-Wae won the Gold Medal inthe Scholastic division for Interview and was also awarded the trophy for thetop Interview.   Benjamin Webb was the third highest ten-event scorer in the Varsitydivision, but the highest scoring Jaguar was Christopher Daines, who competed in the Scholastic division. The sophomore also won a Silver medal in Social Science and a Bronze medal inEconomics.  South Mountain is currently ranked #12 in the state going intothe State Tournament.
