PUHSD Developing Five-Year Strategic Plan

The Phoenix Union School District is developing a Strategic Plan for the next five years. The Steering Committee has created and endorsed six pillars that serve as the foundation: Leadership; Community Engagement; Professional Development; Culture of Excellence; Family Involvement/Empowerment and Student Development. The Governing Board has also identified areas of focus as 9th Grade credit completion rates; 9th Grade College and Career Readiness (CCR) scores; 10th Grade CCR scores and Advanced Placement enrollment and achievement. Subcommittees are meeting September through November with stakeholders to gain feedback on specific improvements, innovations or tangible outcomes stakeholders want accomplished. Teachers, students, parents and community members are encouraged to attend.
The following committees have upcoming public meetings: Family Involvement, Oct. 28 at North; Student Development, Oct. 29 at South Mountain; Leadership, Nov. 4 at Trevor Browne; Professional Development, Nov. 6 at South Mountain; Community Engagement, November 12 at Carl Hayden; Culture of Excellence, Nov. 14 at Maryvale; Family Involvement, Nov. 18 at Central, and Student Development, Nov. 19 at Bostrom. The meetings begin at 6 p.m.
