Mark Williams is an English teacher at Central High, so he knows a thing or two about a good book. As an author, he has just released his third novel, called Looking for Indianola. It is part of his Emancipation series that began with Emancipating Elias in 2007 and followed up by Holy Ground in 2010. He introduced his latest book to friends and fans, April 3 at the University Club in Phoenix, and he will hold a book signing at Wally’s American Pub and Grill (5029 N. 44th Street), April 24 from 3-6 p.m.
Williams spent the first 21 years of his career as a Special Agent for the Organized Crime Division of the State Attorney General's Office. He traveled across the United States as an instructor for law enforcement in various capacities. After he retired, he became a high school English teacher.
“With each book, however, I tried to take a different look at our common hunger in the human soul to be free, to be somehow—emancipated. …I see all of us, in these pages and I have tried to bring honor to our pursuit to live the best we know how in the midst of our struggles,” Williams wrote in the Author’s Foreword.
