PUHSD Offers Free Summer School to all Current and New Students

Free summer school will be offered to current students and new students this year.  The Freshman Academy is for incoming ninth graders who need to increase their math or English skills necessary to succeed in high school.  There will be course offerings in reading, introduction to high school literacy and high school math.  Eleven schools will have Freshman Academy.  Most campuses will have classes from June 3-26, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.  Students coming into Cesar Chavez or Betty Fairfax will come May 28-June 27, Monday through Thursday.  Alhambra will hold Freshman Academy, June 6-July 3, Monday through Friday.  Current students (entering grades 10,11,12 next fall)  will attend May 28-June 27 at their home schools, Monday through Thursday, with two sections available-morning from 8-11:50 a.m. and afternoon from 12:30-4:20 p.m.  Each section is a half-credit.  For courses available and more information, visit www.PhoenixUnion.org/SummerSchool or call (602) 764-1307.
