Barry Manilow to Donate Yahaha Piano to Carl Hayden

Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow is coming to town, but he won’t be empty-handed. He is donating a Yamaha piano to Carl Hayden High School to launch a local instrument drive for the Phoenix Union High School District and he hopes others will follow his philanthropic lead. Anyone who donates a new or gently-used musical instrument to the Comerica Theatre Box Office will receive two free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations while supplies last) for Manilow’s December 9 concert at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.
Comerica Theatre will be the base for the instrument drive in Phoenix, from now through December 9. They are able to accept the instruments, Monday through Friday during the hours of 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.
Rebecca Grace, band director at Carl Hayden, will head a team of music teachers who will collect and distribute the instruments to schools. Woodwinds and brass instruments are always needed, according to Grace, as well as guitars and strings. Three District schools have string orchestras.
