    Panthers

     

     

    MARYVALE IS A CLOSED CAMPUS. No student may leave campus until the end of the school day.

     

     

    SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, AND SENIORS: Interested in taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)? Go to room 400, the JROTC room, to sign up. The test is on October 27th from 7:30 a.m. 12:00 p.m. and is required for those interested in joining the military.

     

    SENIORS: Come to the FAFSA Fiesta, October 24th for fun, food and money for college. The party is from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. See your counselor for a golden ticket.

     

    SOPHOMORES: The Pre-ACT will be given on Thursday, October 19th. The test helps you plan for your future. See your counselor for more info.

     

    WRESTLING: A wrestling meeting will be held at 3 p.m. in the East Gym on Tuesday, October 17th. If interesting in participating in wrestling, please come. All are invited.

     

    STUDENTS: If you see a stray cat or dog on or around campus, please do not pick it up. Leave it alone and notify a staff member. Remember to include where you saw it.

     

    CROSS COUNTRY: Last week the Cross Country team finished the regular season undefeated for the third consecutive year. Eleven runners ran a season best. The following weekend eight ran a personal best. Medal winners included Janet Chavez, Mia Avelar, Angel Tapia, Jose Evangelista, Cesar Chavez, Daniel Islas, and Jesus Flores. Congratulations! Championship races will begin at 3:30 p.m. this Wednesday at El Oso Park. Admission is FREE.


    TUTORING ASSISTANCE: Need help with reading, math or writing concepts or support for the upcoming ACT, PSAT, or AIMS testing? Saturday school will occur twice a month, and tutoring is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 p.m.

    JUNIORS and SOPHOMORES: The PSAT will be given on October 25th. See if you qualify for a National Merit Scholarship that covers tuition at any college or university in the U.S.
    Pay your $16.00 at the bookstore and see Mr. Bustamante in counseling for more info.

    MATH CLUB: Math Club meets on Fridays in room 306 during 5th period lunch. Students can get tutoring, work on homework, and participate in the math problem of the week.

    JROTC: The Major David Eddy Physical Fitness Competition, will be held at Maryvale from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 21st. Come out and support our efforts in becoming state champions. Admission is free.

    VORACIOUS READERS’ GUEST SPEAKER: This Thursday, October 19th, Ranger Terry Gerber will be our guest speaker lecturing on survival in the snow and in the desert. All are invited to room 100 on Thursday, October 19th, at 2:45pm. Also, all participants going on the field trip on Friday, October 20th, need to come by room 100 and pick up your permission form.

     

    NHS INDUCTION: All are invited to this year's NHS Induction to hear Debbie Castaldo, our keynote speaker and D-back's VP of Community Affairs. Also speaking is BrieAnna Frank, our former student who works for the Arizona Republic and travels abroad for research.

    BOYS’ GOLF: The boys’ golf team: Bryan Chavez, Jesus Marcial, Jose Camacho, Rene Carmargo and Ryan Gillette performed excellently and took 4th place out of 11 teams at the annual P.U.H.S.D. Golf Championship this year. Great job guys!
