Who We Are

Betty H. Fairfax High School is Phoenix Union’s newest comprehensive high school, having opened in 2007, and graduating its first senior class in spring 2011.  Named after a Phoenix teacher, guidance counselor and civil rights activist, who inspired and motivated students over a 57-year career. The school has followed in Betty's footsteps, building a foundation of excellence. 

Fairfax is committed to facilitating college-level skill development and access to college preparatory courses for all students.  This internationally-acclaimed, rigorous program makes a positive impact on  every student, teacher and course at Fairfax, and enhances its concerted effort to move students into post-secondary education.

  • Summer Meal Program
    For the 34th year, Phoenix Union will provide free breakfast and lunch for needy children 18 years of age and younger at the 13 high schools holding Summer School. Breakfast will be from 7:45 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 10:45 to 12:15 p.m. Adults are welcome to accompany children and can purchase breakfast for $2 and lunch for $3. Meals will be served at Meals will be served at the following PUHSD campuses: Bioscience, Bostrom, Trevor Browne, Camelback, Carl Hayden, Central, Cesar Chavez, Betty Fairfax, Maryvale, Metro Tech, North and South Mountain Monday through Thursday, May 26-June 25. Alhambra will offer meals Monday through Friday, June 1 -June 25
